As part of our fundraising strategy we are focussed on developing mutually beneficial links with corporate partners. Through working in partnership with a
carefully chosen charity, your company can embrace many of the key
aspects of Corporate Social Responsibility.
Corporate Social Responsibility can have many benefits:
• improvement in investor interest
• increase in shareholder trust
• decrease in staff turnover
• growth in sales
One of the goals of the Colostomy Association is to raise awareness about what it is really like to live and work as a colostomate. There is no doubt that in the workplace today you will find both employers and employees who have a colostomy. Often their friends and colleagues may have no idea.
Some colostomates may feel compromised so they will not want to talk about it or confide in their employers or colleagues for fear that it may affect their working life - we want the business sector to understand that having a colostomy does not make people less able, in fact, from talking to, and reading about our members activities, in many cases, the exact opposite is true.
With your help we can heighten awareness, therefore, we would like to encourage the business sector to open up this area for discussion - ignorance can then be replaced by knowledge and understanding.
We would like to invite donations from the business sector to enable us to develop information which will clarify and educate people about what being a colostomate really means, by doing this we hope to dismiss any myths and inaccuracies that companies and potential employers and employees may harbor.
