How to become a 'Friend' of the Colostomy Association

What is being a 'Friend' all about

We would like to invite anyone with a colostomy, (permanent of temporary) and/or members of their family to become 'Friends' of the Association. The Association continues to help colostomates who are experienced and those who are new to living with a colostomy. Our volunteers, who are all colostomates, make personal visits to offer support and reassurance. We provide informative literature and attend hospital open days and have a twenty-four helpline. Our website will further enhance the work of Association but more importantly will provide people with clear information.

A 'Friend' is asked to make a regular commitment of £12.00 (or more) to the Association each year, either by standing order, cheque or postal order. This will ensure that we are able to continue to produce four issues of Tidings Magazine per year - this publication is full of the latest news, product information, hints and tips plus real-life stories from other colostomates.

This regular payment will ensure that there is always a helping hand for those who need it, now and in the future - including some colostomates yet to be born. There are many thousands of adults and children, who, now and in years to come, will receive a life saving colostomy.

The benefits of being a 'Friend'

By becoming a friend of the Colostomy Association you will benefit in the following ways:

• You will receive a copy of our Tidings magazine (48 pages) every quarter. Tidings is filled with interesting articles, features and inspirational stories which we hope you will find relevant and enjoyable.

• You will have access to our volunteer network to discuss any specific issues that you may have. They have a wealth of experience to share and will be happy to talk to you.

We will keep you advised of the latest developments in stoma appliances.

We represent our members in forums to discuss forthcoming changes to the National Health Service.

• We never intrude but are always here if you need us
