Volunteers
Why we need volunteers
It is important for all new and experienced colostomates to receive help and advice when they are vunerable and seeking support. We have over 70 volunteers throughout the UK who know what it is like to live with a stoma themselves. Their main role is quite simply to be there for you, to advise and encourage you to return to a full and active life. If you feel that you would benefit from talking to someone please contact the office and we will put you in touch with a volunteer who may be able to help with a particular subject or just to have a chat. Our volunteers also represent the association at open days and exhibitions, for a list of these events check out the Open Days page or contact the association for more information.
Becoming a volunteer
If you think you have what it takes to become a volunteer for the Colostomy Association, we would be pleased to hear from you - contact us at head office. All volunteers need to have two references, of which one should be from your stoma nurse or consultant.
